If you have dreamed of an elopement ceremony in Irland, then the ceremony music will really make the difference. Including stunning Irish Airs on the traditional Low Whistle along with the lilting songs in the Irish language will truly set the tone for a magical wedding day that will stay with you both forever.
It is a proven fact that music can bring you right back to a special moment in your life with such power that it is a must for your special day.
It is a tradition in Ireland to have a singer at your wedding ceremony, not just instrumental music, and to truly embrace that authentic Irish feel a Live singer will really add to your ceremony.
I myself have performed for many couples having elopements, on cliff edges, ancient ruins, and in Irish castles and every elopement is unique, romantic, and magical.
Here are my top 5 must-have songs for your Elopement wedding in Ireland.
Make sure to get in touch to check my availability for your wedding ceremony elopement in Ireland.
Thank you to Eloping in Ireland for these stunning images, and of course for linking me up with the beautiful couples I have met along the way.

Mo Ghrá Thú

This is a beautiful piece composed by Fr. Liam Lawton and is a firm favorite for wedding ceremonies. It simply translates as 'I love you'. It is usually part of the Traditional Irish Catholic ceremony but suits an Irish elopement perfectly.

She Moved Through The Fair

This beautiful song has been a traditional Irish ballad for many years, and although the story behind it is quite sad the tune of the song is truly special.
This song was famously performed by Sinead o' Connor in the movie 'Michael Collins' starring Julia Roberts.

Se an Tiarna M'aoire

This piece is traditionally part of the Catholic mass as a Psalm, which is The Lord is my Shepherd, but I think you will agree it is a mystical and haunting tune perfect for an elopement in Ireland.

Seo é D'ámhrán

'Your song' by Elton John in Irish, or Gaeilge. This is really a cool nod to the Irish language and such a pretty song to include in your ceremony, because as the years go by, and you hear the original in English, it will bring you back to that special moment together in Ireland, standing opposite each other declaring your undying love! Pure magic!!

Braveheart

In this piece, you can see I am playing the Irish Low Whistle, but I'll let you into a little secret, my low whistle was actually made by a Scottish lady and it is an Alba Low Whistle, and it sounds so haunting and beautiful. Also, this air is the theme tune to the movie Braveheart starring Mel Gibson, so it too is in fact Scottish. In any case, it gives that truly haunting atmosphere essential for an Irish elopement ceremony.

<![CDATA[Moon River - Romantic Bridal entrance song.]]>Tue, 28 Apr 2020 08:29:44 GMThttp://sineadthesinger.ie/wedding-singer-blog/romantic-bridal-entrance-song-moon-river

This is such a stunning song for any wedding ceremony. It is the perfect selection for any romantic wedding ceremony. If you are having a Movie themed wedding this would be perfect of a 60s themed wedding.
Moon River is about looking to the future and the past simultaneously. The river represents time and the journey from start to finish. It's about the journey of life. The lyrics composer, Johnny Mercer, wanted to write about his home in the south of the USA where he lived by the water.
Ceremony music for weddings is so important to set the tone for your entire day. If you need help to choose the perfect wedding ceremony for your wedding day please get in touch and I will help you choose the perfect music to suit your personality and style for your wedding ceremony.

It's a simple song—only ten lines long—but the soaring melody and romantic lyrics provided a dreamy soundtrack for the 1961 film adaptation of the Truman Capote classic, Breakfast at Tiffany's. "Moon River" went on to win an Academy Award for Best Original Song and two Grammys, for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. And of course, it's been covered thousands of times by artists including Andy Williams, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, and Aretha Franklin.

Lyrics
Moon river,
wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker,
you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin',
I'm goin' your way
Two drifters,
off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end,
waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend,
moon river, and me

<![CDATA[Dock of the bay - drinks reception music for a wedding, cocktail hour music, Pop up piano bar]]>Sat, 18 Apr 2020 09:19:52 GMThttp://sineadthesinger.ie/wedding-singer-blog/drinks-reception-music-for-your-wedding-in-irelandThis is a song by Otis Redding, it is the perfect vibe of music to get your guests in the chilled out mood for your wedding. It is ideal for wedding drinks receptions. We often get requests for this song during our Pop up piano bar entertainment which we provide for the cocktail hour before the guests go in for the wedding meal. It's vital to keep your guests entertained while you are getting your photographs taken as a newly married couple. We bring our own portable baby grand piano so that it really looks the part. I interact with your guests and get requests for what music they would like to hear, so there is usually a huge mix of music. Very often the guests themselves will ask if they can sing a song along with my professional pianist and it's a great opportunity for guests to really join in and make your wedding even more memorable for everyone.

If you don't know me, I am a singer based in Galway Ireland, I sing for wedding ceremonies all over Ireland. I've been a church singer for about 15 years and have many years of training. I sing a variety of styles from classical, to rock, pop, jazz and of course Irish too.

Here is a bit of background about this amazing song. Otis Redding finished recording "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" just days before the plane crash that took his life. He was only 26 years old. The song was released just weeks after he was buried in Georgia, so it was widely heard as his epitaph. In many ways, it is still inextricable from his tragic death

Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes
Watchin' the ships roll in
Then I watch 'em roll away again
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide, roll away
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

I left my home in Georgia
And I headed for the Frisco Bay
'Cause I've got nothin' to live for
Looks like nothin's
gonna come my way,
so I'm just come sittin'
on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay,
wastin' time

Looks like nothin's gonna change
Everything seems to stay the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same

I'm sittin' here restin' my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
This two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home
Now I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away
Sittin' on the dock of the bay I'm wastin' time

<![CDATA[If you're looking for inspiration for a hymn to include in a church ceremony for both weddings and funerals here is a great choice.]]>Mon, 13 Apr 2020 11:30:35 GMThttp://sineadthesinger.ie/wedding-singer-blog/beautiful-hymns-for-a-funeral-mass

Pie Jesu - Andrew Lloyd Webber, female vocal and piano, contemporary classical song for funerals

Recently I recorded Pie Jesu for a wedding, and I did change some of the lyrics so that it was more acceptable for the occasion. It is a very popular song for a mass in general and that is why people ask for it to be played as part of a wedding church service, but the lyrics lend it to be more suitable for funerals.

I have been singing this song since I was about 8 years old and I have to say I absolutely love it and enjoy singing it every time for a wedding or funeral. This would be a great song for communion and I include it in my list for communion songs for weddings and funerals. It is a popular song worldwide and is frequently included in church music in Ireland. As a singer for weddings, it is a strong favourite, as it is elegant and romantic in sound.

Lyrics
Pie Jesu,
pie Jesu,
pie Jesu,
pie Jesu
Qui tollis
peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem,
dona eis requiem

Pie Jesu,
pie Jesu,
pie Jesu,
pie Jesu
Qui tollis
peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem,
dona eis requiem

Agnus Dei,
Agnus Dei,
Agnus Dei,
Agnus Dei
Qui tollis
peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem,
dona eis requiem
(Dona eis requiem)
Sempiternam
(Dona eis requiem)
Sempiternam Re-, Sempiternam

Webber's Requiem was first performed in New York City, New York in the St. Thomas Church on February 25, 1985, with conductor Lorin Maazel, soprano Sarah Brightman (who, at the time, was his wife), tenor Placido Domingo, and child soprano Paul Miles-Kingston. In 1986, Requiem earned Lloyd Webber a Grammy Award for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. In addition, "Pie Jesu" placed among the top 10 in British music charts earning the Requiem the Silver Certification by the British Phonographic Industry.

Unlike a traditional requiem mass, Lloyd Webber combined the texts of the Pie Jesu and Agnus Dei, as well as the Hosanna and Benedictus, and split the Sactus into two movements. This treatment of the sacred texts is unique to Andrew Lloyd Webber and will be remembered and enjoyed for many, what will likely be centuries.
